Confronting Cancer: Portraits of Strength and Hope
For the last several years I have been honored to be the photographer for the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center Wall of Hope and the Lahey Clinic Gordon Cancer Center's Portraits of Inspiration wall. These framed pieces include a portrait and a story about the patient's experience. I travel around New England with a writer to photograph patients who agree to tell their stories to give inspiration to others dealing with cancer.
I work with a minimum of equipment, preferring available light (with some bounced flash) and natural moments. The people I photograph collaborate in choosing which portrait will be hung on the wall. I invite you to visit these hospitals to see the original images and read the moving stories.
